Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland

Stop five on our whirlwind adventure brought us to the amazing country of Switzerland. We stayed in a hotel situated in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, which is tucked inside some of the highest peaks in Europe! Everyone knows that the Swiss are famous for their chocolates and their cheeses, and I am happy to report that they did not disappoint!

You'll see the views of the waterfall from our hotel's breakfast nook - it speaks for itself! The Lauterbrunnen Valley is home to some of the most stunning natural phenomenon that I've seen, including Trümmelbach Falls, which drains all alpine water from the highest peaks in Europe, such as the Schilthorn and the Eiger. We hiked inside the mountain to see just how much erosion has occurred as a result of this powerful waterfall, and it was amazing how much of the rock has been carved away of the years. After a hot chocolate and meringue, we boarded a gondola to the peaks above the valley. There, we visited the town of Gimmelwald, where we saw extensive green and herds of cattle, as well as homes decked out with their prize cowbells. While we were tucked into the clouds that day, we were still able to take in incredible views on a train ride across the mountainside. You will also enjoy fondue and other traditional dishes, which cannot be beat. A hidden gem for any European vacation!
